Pitch invader scores penalty

leave a comment »

CRAIG BELLAMY’S on-field shenanigans during the Manchester derby with a pitch invader left a bit of a sour taste in the mouth.

It was good then that one Russian supporter, and his coattails hanging mate, did their bit to restore the good reputation of pitch invaders everywhere.

In the game between Spartak Moscow and Saturn Moscow, just as Brazilian midfielder Alex prepared to take a penalty for Spartak, the fan ran onto the pitch to dispatch the penalty with a composure rarely displayed by an England World Cup squad.

He then, despite his ample physique, proceeded to run the length of the pitch Emmanuel-Adebayor-style to celebrate in a thoroughly deserving manner.

For those of you left in suspense by the video’s cliffhanger ending, Alex scored the penalty, but Spartak lost the game 2-1.
