FIFA got its way last night as France and Portgual both progressed through the play-offs and into next year’s World Cup.

In the cold light of day, England have a chance

NOW the dust has settled on the latest round of World Cup qualifiers, a true assessment can be made of next summer’s tournament.

The media has been repeatedly asking since England’s 5-1 demolition of Croatia on Wednesday: “Can England win the World Cup?”

Pietersen injury highlights a wider problem for the game

KEVIN PIETERSEN has been forced out of the rest of this summer’s Ashes series with an achilles injury.

The loss of their best batsman is a huge loss for England.

And it now means, following Andrew Flintoff’s looming retirement (although Flintoff will limp through the rest of the series), the IPL has cost England probably their two best players and definitely their two most marketable. Read the rest of this entry »
