Mourinho attempting to tick ego-boxes

REAL MADRID will finally unveil José Mourinho as their new manager on Monday after agreeing compensation with Inter Milan.

Despite Inter being owed £13.5million under the terms of Mourinho’s contract, club president Massimo Moratti settled for a deal worth between £6 and 7million.

Even though Mourinho is probably the best manager of his generation, this deal means Real Madrid have spent considerably less on him than they did on Jonathan Woodgate. Read the rest of this entry »

Stankovic scores a lovely goal

INTER MILAN notched up one of the results of the season with their 5-0 trouncing of Genoa this weekend.

This was more impressive as they did it without their two stars, Samuel Eto’o and Diego Milito, and Genoa had a previously unbeaten home record.

But all that paled into insignificance, as did the goals from Esteban Cambiasso, Mario Balotelli, Patrick Vieira and Maicon, alongside this effort from Serbian Dejan Stankovic. Read the rest of this entry »

Ref shows Ronaldinho the wrong card

GRAHAM POLL has finally lost his title of the world’s most inept referee.

Although Poll showed three yellow cards to the same player at the 2006 World Cup, the referee of AC Milan’s pre-season friendly against Inter Milan did not even realise what card he was flashing. Read the rest of this entry »
